Little Dilly Mallard Duck

   Was swimming on her lake,

But thought she’d like a little lunch -

Some bread or nice sweet cake.

She trotted off across the grass

   And tapped upon my door:

“I know you gave me breakfast,

But I’d like a little more.”

Through the hedge her friends came too -

   “We’d also like some bread,”

But they’d had bread not long ago.

I knew they’d all been fed.

“You greedy little mallard ducks,

   Now don’t keep bothering me!

But - - come again at 4 o’clock.

I'll give you *cake for tea.”

* No, they never get cake.  I buy sunflower seeds for them, which is the best thing as a treat for ducks.
